PREMIER ANESTHESIA ANNOUNCES LAWSUIT SETTLEMENT
PREMIER ANESTHESIA ANNOUNCES LAWSUIT SETTLEMENT ATLANTA, March 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Premier Anesthesia, Inc.,
(NASDAQ-NMS: PRAN) headquartered in Atlanta, announced today that a Manatee, Fla., circuit court jury awarded $740,000 on Friday, March 27, to Dr. Leonides Y. Teves, a former anesthesiologist of Manatee Memorial Hospital in Leonides Y. Taves, M.D., vs. Baptist Hospitals and Health Services et al.
Pursuant to its agreement with the hospital, Premier has provided contract anesthesiology services at the hospital since 1988. Teves filed suit against the hospital and the company in 1989 alleging various violations of the Florida Antitrust Act of 1980 and unlawful interference with his business and professional relations. The antitrust claims against the hospital and the company were dismissed on defendants' motions for directed verdict. Richard D. Ballard, president of Premier, stated that the company intends to vigorously appeal the award, adding that the facts of the case do not justify the verdict. Post-trial motions to set aside the verdict will be made by counsel for Premier within the next thirty days. Management of the company believes that the ultimate resolution of the lawsuit will not have a material adverse affect on the company's financial condition. Premier Anesthesia, Inc. is the country's leading provider of contract anesthesia services to hospitals. -0- 3/30/92 /CONTACT: Richard Ballard, president of Premier Anesthesia, 404-458-4842/ (PRAN) CO: Premier Anesthesia, Inc.
