PRAXAIR REDUCES SURFACE TECHNOLOGIES WORKFORCE

 INDIANAPOLIS, April 14 /PRNewswire/ -- In response to the csurface technologies organization by about 20 percent since the beginning of the year. In January, the company announced an initial reduction of 85 positions in the U.S., and is implementing an additional reduction of about 120 positions this month. Surface technologies positions in Europe have been reduced by about 130 in 1993.

 Praxair Surface Technologies, Inc. is the leading worldwide supplier of metallic and ceramic coatings and powders used on jet engine parts, as well as for hard surfaces for printing, paper and steel finishing rolls. The subsidiary also has a substantial business overhauling and repairing jet engine components.

 Through a special separation program, the company will provide affected employees with assistance in transitioning to new employment or retirement.
