PRAXAIR EXPANDS AIR SEPARATION CAPACITY IN MEXICO

MEXICO CITY, Aug. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Linde de Mexico, a subsidiary of Praxair, Inc. (NYSE: PX), will expand its air separation plant in Coatzacoalcos, in southeastern Mexico, and increase its liquefier capacity to more than 200 tons per day of liquid oxygen and nitrogen. This is the subsidiary's second cryogenic expansion project this year; in March it announced the construction of an air separation plant in Mexico City with a capacity of 250 tons per day of liquid and gaseous oxygen and nitrogen.
"This expansion will meet the increasing requirements of our customers in the region, particularly the petrochemical industry," said Thomas W. von Krannichfeldt, managing director of Linde de Mexico. The Coatzacoalcos air separation plant, in operation since 1982, produces liquid oxygen and nitrogen, and also supplies gaseous oxygen and nitrogen via pipeline to a neighboring petrochemical complex.
Linde de Mexico, headquartered in Mexico City, is one of the largest industrial gases suppliers in Mexico, serving a wide variety of industries. The company operates the largest industrial gases pipeline system in Mexico, and has more than 50 service outlets for specialty and packaged gases throughout the country.
Praxair, Inc., headquartered in Danbury, Connecticut, USA, is the largest industrial gases supplier in North and South America, and one of the largest worldwide, with annual sales of $2.6 billion. The company also is a leading worldwide supplier of metallic and ceramic coatings and powders.
