PR NEWSWIRE INTRODUCES STOCKS-ON-CALL IN THE WALL STREET JOURNAL

NEW YORK, June 16 /PRNewswire -- PR Newswire, the world's leading electronic distributor of corporate news releases, today announced "Stocks On-Call," a service which allows individual investors to immediately retrieve full-text news stories by fax, free of charge.
"Stocks On-Call will appear every Thursday in the Wall Street Journal," said PRN President Ian Capps. "It will appear as a list with the name of the company, the exchange it's traded on, the news that has been issued and a reference number for readers to use when calling down the full text."
The list will carry the names of a minimum of 40 companies each time it appears. Initially, PR Newswire plans to run the list once a week but if demand is high, frequency will be increased. The company also intends to extend placement of the list into other national dailies.
"The need for a service to guarantee placement of news releases has always been rated high in the minds of public and investor relations professionals," Capps said, "but there has never been an easy and economical approach to it. When editors decide to use company press releases, they generally condense them significantly. Sometimes, they never get used. Now with Stocks On-Call, a company is guaranteed placement and the opportunity to reach the 1.8 million readers of the Wall Street Journal."
"All a reader has to do is call the toll-free number , 800-578-7888, from a touch-tone phone and order the story he or she wants," said PRN Senior Vice President John Williams. "The menu will be in the paper but even if the reader has misplaced it, it can be retrieved at no charge from the system merely by following the directions given by the automated voice response program. One the menu is in hand, selection of stories is very fast and easy. Most will appear on the caller's fax machine within 30 seconds," he added.
Stocks On-Call follows on the heels of a similar service, OTC On- Call, which was launched in early May by PRN and appears every Thursday in Investor's Business Daily. Plans call for continuing OTC On-Call in Investors Business Daily as a specialty service for NASDAQ companies.
PR Newswire is the largest and most widely used distributor of corporate news to the media, meeting the needs of investor relations, public relations and other communications professionals since 1954. With 19 offices strategically located around the United States, and affiliates around the globe, PR Newswire is able to transmit releases to virtually any location specific by clients.
