 PPG TO REDEEM DEBENTURES DUE 2000
 PITTSBURGH, March 16 /PRNewswire/ -- PPG Industries (NYSE: PPG)


said today it has called for redemption, effective April 16, 1992, of its outstanding $43.5 million in 8-1/2 percent Sinking Fund Debentures due 2000.
 The debentures will be redeemed at a price equal to 101.125 percent of their principal amount plus interest accrued to April 16.
 The debenture trustee, Harris Trust and Savings Bank, will notify registered holders of the procedure for presentation of the debentures and payment of the redemption price.
