POWERSOFT AND POPKIN SOFTWARE ANNOUNCE COOPERATIVE MARKETING AND DEVELOPMENT PACT

SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Powersoft Corp. and Popkin Software and Systems Inc. announced today at Client/Server '93 a cooperative marketing and development agreement to integrate their respective products.
Under the agreement, Popkin Software is developing a Windows-based interface between System Architect 2.4 -- the company's popular PC-based CASE tool under Microsoft Windows and OS/2 Presentation Manager -- and PowerBuilder 2.0. The interface will allow developers to import and export design information between the companies' tools.
The interface -- called SA/PowerBuilder Link -- will allow developers to exchange information between the products including data elements, entities/tables and screens created with System Architect's Screen Painter. Future releases of SA/PowerBuilder Link will provide additional capabilities for building large-scale client/server applications for commercial and government users.
Jan Popkin, co-founder and chief scientist of Popkin Software, said the agreement between the two companies will provide major benefits for developers. "This agreement brings together two companies that have established themselves as technology leaders. System Architect's front- end analysis and design capabilities are a superb complement to PowerBuilder's integrated development environment. It's a perfect fit."
"System Architect's tight integration with PowerBuilder reflects the needs of MIS developers who are building client/server applications," said David Litwack, president of Powersoft. "By offering a PC-based client/server solution, the two companies can deliver a robust solution for the modeling, design and deployment of client/server applications across enterprise networks."
Popkin's SA/PowerBuilder Link will be available in the second quarter of 1993. The product will be priced at $1,995 per server.
