 POWEREX SUBSIDIARY TO SELL SEMICONDUCTORS TO JAPANESE MARKET
 YOUNGWOOD, Pa., Oct. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Powerex, Inc., a power semiconductor manufacturer headquartered here, announced today it has formed Powerex Japan, Inc., to conduct semiconductor sales in the Japanese market. It will be Headquartered in Fukuoka, Japan.
 The Japanese subsidiary will sell power semiconductors, such as thyristors, transistor modules and IBGT modules to the $1 billion Japanese power semiconductor market. The company forecasts sales to be $16 million in 1993, and $40 million by 1998. Sales, which will increase the penetration of foreign-made semiconductors in the Japanese market, will be conducted through Mitsubishi Electric's sales network.
 Jointly established in 1986 by Westinghouse Electric Corporation (NYSE: WX), General Electric Company (NYSE: GE), and Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, Powerex manufactures and sells such power semiconductors as transistor modules and thyristors for electric power converting equipment, including inverters, and for power control equipment.
 The company, which had sales of $90 million in 1991, has a sales and manufacturing subsidiary, Powerex Europe, in Le Mans, France.
