POUGHKEEPSIE SAVINGS BANK ANNOUNCES NEW COMMUNITY BANK LEADER
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y., Feb. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Poughkeepsie Savings Bank, FSB (NASDAQ: PKPS) today announced the appointment of Patrick J. Moore as president and chief operating officer. Christoph H. Schmidt will continue as chairman of the board and chief executive officer.
Moore joined the bank in October 1991 as a consultant with the primary objective of developing a strategy for addressing consumer banking needs in Dutchess, Orange and Ulster Counties. In his new role, his responsibilities will include the retail branch network, consumer and residential lending and bank operations.
Before joining Poughkeepsie Savings bank, Moore spent three years as the president and chief operating officer of Cardinal Federal Savings Bank, a $1.5 billion thrift in Cleveland. In 1990, Cardinal was rated as one of the nation's most profitable thrift institutions. Prior to Cardinal, Moore spent five years at Progressive Insurance, a major provider of insurance programs to bank and thrifts.
Commenting on his appointment, Moore said, "PSB is a community bank with loyal customers and with employees who consistently provide superior service. Poughkeepsie Savings Bank has the natural advantages to make it the bank of the Hudson."
Moore holds undergraduate and masters degrees from the University of Connecticut and a law degree from John Marshall College of Law in Ohio. He was admitted to the Ohio Bar.
He has been an active supporter of the Cleveland Ballet and Project LEARN, an adult literacy program. In his new capacity as president of Poughkeepsie Savings, Moore will take an active role in the communities served by the bank. He and his family currently reside in Shaker Heights, Ohio and plan to move to the Mid-Hudson Valley during the summer.
