POSTAL SERVICE PREPARED FOR TAX DAY MAILING RUSH!
DETROIT, April 12 /PRNewswire/ -- The United States Postal Service is bracing itself for the annual surge of mail from last-minute taxpayers. Postal Service officials in the Detroit area are busy finalizing plans to handle the influx of income tax returns mailed by taxpayers on April 15. In an effort to accommodate last-minute taxpayers, the Detroit Postal Service has established late-night window services and late-night pick-up at offices throughout the area. All mail deposited late at the following locations will receive the April 15 postmark. In addition, many of these facilities will have postal employees outside to help in collecting the tax forms. The following offices will provide window services until 8 p.m. and collections at the outside collection boxes until 10 p.m.: -- Grosse Pointe Branch - 18640 Mack Ave. -- Oak Park Branch - 14200 W. 8 Mile Road -- North End Station - 60 E. Milwaukee -- Redford Branch - 12245 Beech Daly Road The following facilities will provide cancellations for its customers until midnight: -- Detroit Main Post Office - 1401 W. Fort St. -- Air Mail Center - Building 515, Detro-Metro Airport -- Ann Arbor 48103 & 04 - 2075 W. Stadium -- Dearborn 48120 - 3800 Greenfield -- Monroe 48161 - 210 W. Front -- Westland 48185 - 6300 N.
