POSTAL SERVICE ASKS CUSTOMERS TO HELP OUT BY CLEARING WALKS, STEPS AND ACCESS TO MAILBOXES

PITTSBURGH, Jan. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- The Postal Service, like many businesses in the area, is affected by the recent severe snow conditions, but is operating, where possible, as near to regular schedules as conditions allow.
"Local mail deliveries are being carried out where possible," said Lawrence McClain, manager-Customer Services and Sales for the Pittsburgh District. "We will attempt mail delivery where conditions allow. Our customers are asked to help by clearing their walkways and steps which lead to their mailboxes. Customers who live in rural areas are asked to clear snow from the area around their boxes. We ask your help to ensure that carriers can safely access mailboxes for delivery."
Currently, most post offices are open regular hours. Some offices in areas where roadways remain impassable may be closed.
Customers are reminded that stamps are available without additional surcharge at many area stores' check-outs. Just look for the U.S. Postal Service "Easy Stamp" emblem.
