 PORT AUTHORITY INTRODUCES 'SAFE CROSSING' PROGRAM
 Drivers under the influence of alcohol who will be traveling from


Manhattan to New Jersey this Friday evening, May 22, will have a difficult time avoiding detection as a result of the Port Authority Police's Operation Safe Crossing program, which will be in place at all three Hudson River crossings and the Bayonne Bridge through early Saturday morning, May 23.
 Port Authority Public Safety Director Charles Knox will introduce the initiative -- funded through assets seized from convicted drug felons -- during a briefing on Wednesday, May 20, at 11 a.m. at the George Washington Bridge Administration Building in Fort Lee, N.J.
 The briefing will take place in conference room B on the second floor of the Administration Building.
