PORT AUTHORITY: FREE PATH SERVICE FROM WORLD TRADE CENTER MAY 3-9

NEW YORK, April 30 /PRNewswire/ -- The remedy for commuter blues will be available during the week of Monday, May 3 through Sunday, May 9 as PATH invites the public to enjoy free travel on its interstate rail system from the World Trade Center terminal as part of the Port Authority's "Springback" celebration.
Also this week, PATH passengers using the World Trade Center Terminal on Monday, May 3 and Wednesday, May 4, from 4:30 until 6:30 p.m., will enjoy the classical music of the WNCN String Trio. WNCN, a New York radio station at 104.3 on the FM dial, will offer live performances both days on the lower level PATH Concourse.
The free week of PATH service is part of the bistate agency's Springback celebration, a celebration of the reopening of the World Trade Center, which will continue throughout May.
The activities at the Twin Towers will include a Children's Day party for kids, retail discounts and a food festival.
The event is the result of a $15 million economic stimulus program funded by the bistate agency called "TOWERS" (Tenant-Owner-Worker Economic Recovery Stimulus). The program provides promotion incentives and other benefits to all private World Trade Center tenants and workers affected by the Feb. 26 bombing.
The free PATH service will begin at 12:01 a.m. Monday, May 3 and continue until 11:59 p.m. Sunday, May 9.
PATH is the rail transit operating subsidiary of the Port Authority. It provides 24-hour service between Newark, Harrison, Jersey City and Hoboken in New Jersey and terminals and stations in lower and midtown Manhattan. The system carries some 200,000 weekday passengers on more than 1,100 daily train movements between the two states.
For more PATH service information, passengers may call 800-234-PATH.
