PORSCHE ANNOUNCES RECALL

RENO, Nev., Aug. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Porsche Cars North America Inc. today announced it will recall 1994 Porsche 911 Speedsters manufactured between April 5, 1993, and May 19, 1993, to replace a defective latch hook on the convertible top.
The company reported that due to a manufacturing problem, the latch hook on the convertible top can crack. This crack could eventually develop into a break of the latch hook, thus impairing the locking function of the latch hook. At higher driving speeds, the convertible top could open unexpectedly causing a risk of accident.
Porsche said the defect was discovered during routine product testing and that it is not aware of any accidents which may have been caused by the defect.
The recall involves 30 vehicles which have been delivered to U.S. Porsche dealers. Porsche Cars North America will instruct these dealers to remedy the defect by replacing the current latch hook assembly with a new assembly.
