PORSCHE ANNOUNCES RECALL
PORSCHE ANNOUNCES RECALL RENO, Nev., April 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Porsche Cars North America Inc.
today announced it will recall 854 of its 1992 968 models to correct a potential mechanical problem affecting cruise control functioning.
The company reported that on certain cars, when the cruise control system is being used, part of it may contact the rear engine compartment cover. This may prevent the engine from returning to idle when the cruise control is disengaged. Porsche said the potential defect was discovered during routine product testing. Owners of the affected vehicles will be notified by mail and asked to bring their automobiles to their Porsche dealer to be checked. The company has a toll-free number to answer consumer questions about the recall. The toll-free number will be listed in the owner notification letter. -0- 4/24/92 /CONTACT: Ed Triolo of Porsche Cars North America, 702-348-3230/ CO: Porsche Cars North America ST: Nevada IN: AUT SU:
