 PONTIAC SALES CONTINUE POSITIVE MOMENTUM
 PONTIAC, Mich., March 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Buoyed by back-to-back

10-day sales records by its new-for-'92 Grand Am, Pontiac Division posted a nearly 29 percent jump in new vehicle sales in the March 1-10 period. For the calendar year, Pontiac sales are up nearly 13 percent from a year ago.
Each of its seven vehicle lines recorded an increase over the same period a year ago to give Pontiac total sales of 14,209 vehicles in the period, up 28.8 percent. The biggest year-to-year gain was the 67.3 percent increase recorded by the new '92 Bonneville whose calendar year sales are up 93 percent.
Grand Am's record sales of 5,916 units were up 54 percent from the same March 1-10 period a year ago. Trans Sport recorded a 22 percent gain and continues to lead all minivans in the industry on the basis of model-year to model-year sales improvement.
"We're encouraged by the positive momentum that the entire Pontiac lineup is generating in a market that's turning itself around," noted Pontiac General Manager John G. Middlebrook. Since the start of the calendar year, Pontiac sales are up nearly 13 percent.
"Grand Am's strong showing follows the car line's best-ever sales performance for the last ten days of February," noted the Pontiac executive and vice president of General Motors. "In addition, the Bonneville is on a pace to exceed model year sales of 100,000 units for the second time since its conversion to a front-wheel drive design six years ago."
