PONTIAC SALES CONTINUE MOMENTUM

PONTIAC, Mich., Oct. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Pontiac Division's sales increased by 14.6 percent for the second 10-day period of October compared with the same period last year.
Trans Sport set a record for the October 11 to 20 period with a 17.8 percent increase.
In addition, the Sunbird, Firebird and Grand Prix each contributed to the gain with sales increases of 136.6, 144.6 and 18.1 percent, respectively.
According to Pontiac General Sales and Service Manager El Schlesinger, Sunbird and Firebird's notable increases were in part, due to Pontiac's value position. "In particular, the Firebird's an incredible value. The Firebird Challenge -- our aggressive campaign which challenges our competition to beat the Firebird's combination of safety, performance and value for under $18,000 -- is encouraging customers to not only visit our dealerships but to drive away in a Pontiac."
Overall, Pontiac sold 17,228 vehicles compared to 13,358 during the same period last year.
