 PONTIAC DIVISION CONTINUES STRONG PERFORMANCE
 PONTIAC, Mich., Sept. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Led by the best-selling


compact in the auto industry, Grand Am, Pontiac Division sales increased 25.1 percent during Sept. 11-20, 1992, vs. the same period in 1991.
 Dealers reported deliveries of the all-new-for-'92 Grand Am jumped 196.9 percent from the year-ago period. For the calendar year, Grand Am sales are up 45.1 percent.
 With a 60.2-percent sales increase during the middle 10 days in September, Trans Sport is also proving that family utility and Pontiac- style driving excitement aren't mutually exclusive. The popular minivan has recorded a 39.5-percent calendar year sales improvement over 1991.
 The subcompact Sunbird and full-size Bonneville reported sales gains of 7.6 percent and 2.9 percent, respectively, for the period. Overall, Pontiac's 8.5-percent sales improvement for the calendar year continues to outpace the new passenger vehicle industry by nearly three-fold.
