PONTIAC, Mich., Dec. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Pontiac Division sales in the southern area of the U.S. are up, posting a 42.2-percent increase for the month of November over the same period a year ago. Model year sales have also been strong for Pontiac in the South with sales of 29,706 units. This sales boost has helped push Pontiac's national sales for the month up 32.2 percent to 49,070 units and up 17 percent to 96,729 for the model year compared to the same periods last year. Showing particular strength in the southern sales area for November were the Atlanta zone, up 138.6 percent, and the Dallas zone, up 47.6 percent. The sporty Firebird, mid-size Grand Prix and compact Grand Am set the lively sales pace in the southern area, posting sales increases of 226.8 percent, 48.9 percent and 44.5 percent, respectively, over the month a year ago. Southern Area Assistant General Sales and Service Manager Dwight Logie points to Pontiac's competitive advantage as the reason for the sales increase: "We've had a great start for the 1994 model year and see it as a vote of confidence for the value every Pontiac offers in addition to programs like the affordable 3-year SmartDrive financing and Pontiac Cares worry-free ownership privileges." -0- 12/3/93 /CONTACT: Celeste Speier of Pontiac, 313-857-1571/ (GM)
