PONTIAC'S NOVEMBER SALES UP IN THE CENTRAL U.S.
PONTIAC, Mich., Dec. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Pontiac Division sales in the central area of the U.S. have been up every 10-day period since the beginning of the model year, posting a 14.6-percent increase for the month of November over the same period a year ago. This sales boost has helped push Pontiac's national sales for the month up 32.2 percent to 49,070 units and up 17 percent to 96,729 for the model year compared to the same periods last year. Showing particular strength in the central sales area for November were the Chicago zone, up 24.6 percent, and Minneapolis zone, up 17.8 percent. The sporty Firebird, mid-size Grand Prix and subcompact Sunbird set the lively sales pace in the central area, posting sales increases of 300.8 percent, 37.8 percent and 36.7 percent, respectively, over the month a year ago. Central Area Assistant General Sales and Service Manager Joe Hendrix points to Pontiac's competitive advantage as the reason for the sales increase: "We've had a great start for the 1994 model year and see it as a vote of confidence for the value every Pontiac offers in addition to programs like the affordable three-year SmartDrive financing and Pontiac Cares worry-free ownership privileges." -0- 12/3/93 /CONTACT: Celeste Speier of Pontiac Division, 313-857-1571/ (GM)
