POLYCONOMICS PROJECTS 1,000-POINT RISE IN THE MEXICAN BOLSA
MORRISTOWN, N.J., Jan. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Polyconomics, Inc., the Morristown, N.J.-based supply-side consulting firm, estimates that the Bolsa index of Mexican stocks should rise to 2400 during 1992. This is 1,000 points above the 1991 year-end close.
The firm's bullish projection is based on an assessment of internal factors within the Mexican economy and the relationship of Mexican stocks to the fortunes of the U.S. economy, which are addressed in the January 1992 Mexico 2000 Perspective. David Goldman, editor of the monthly Mexico 2000 Perspective and senior economist at Polyconomics, Inc., advises that "If, as we expect, the Dow Jones Industrial Average heads toward 3500 in response to the drastic improvements in the U.S. monetary climate, the Bolsa index should rise almost as far in 1992 as it did in 1991."
Polyconomics, Inc. maintains an impressive track record of correct projections on the course of the Mexican stock market. Goldman accurately forecast the rise in the Mexican market in Forbes magazine, "A Revolution You Can Invest In," July 9, 1990. "Is the party over? Not by a long shot," he wrote. "By 1993 the Mexican market could well rise to four times its present level." The Bolsa was approximately 670 at the time of that forecast and with a 1991 close around 1400, the projection of a 2400 Bolsa by the end of 1992 remains solidly on track.
Polyconomics, Inc., founded by supply-sider Jude Wanniski, advises clients on the global political economy and has over 150 corporate and financial clients whose combined portfolios total over $1 trillion in assets. In 1990, Polyconomics launched the Mexico 2000 Council, an extra-governmental policy mechanism with three dozen multinational sponsors, devoted to encouraging and assisting policymaking by the Mexican government in accord with positive economic objectives.
