POLICE PLAN TWO-GIG CROKER SPECTACULAR; Sting and boys to rock home of GAA.
ROCKERS The Police are lined up to play two arresting concerts in Croke Park this year, it has been revealed.
Details of the gigs at GAA headquarters in Dublin, including the specific dates in October for the shows, will be released this Friday.
The band fronted by Sting count Every Breathe You Take and Roxanne among their hits.
The group's management has been in talks with promoters MCD and Croke Park officials to arrange the deal.
Sources claim that initially the band will announce just one date but a second will be added later.
The stadium, which can hold 80,000 people, has hosted concerts by music heavyweights such as Robbie Williams and U2 in recent years.
The Police split 20 years ago after five No1 albums.
Sting went on to solo success with songs such as Englishman In New York and Fields Of Gold.
But now he, guitarist Andy Summers and drummer Stewart Copeland are ready to hit the road again for the comeback gigs.
The worldwide tour begins in Vancouver, Canada, on May 28.
