POLICE FIND 5 CANNABIS FARMS A DAY; PS9 million worth of plants seized in crackdown.

Byline: Nick McCarthy

A HUGE crackdown on illegal cannabis farms in city houses is uncovering five EVERY DAY.

Officers on a new West Midlands Police task force have recently seized PS9 million worth of plants, and are warning of the rise of organised gangs cashing in on the trade. Around 145 house and flat factories are being discovered each month.

Fire chiefs warn of serious dangers as most of the farms tap illegally into the electric mains, leading to 61 blazes in one year alone.

Discovery: This cannabisgrowing farm was found in a property in Handsworth.
