POLAROID VICE CHAIRMAN DR. SHELDON A. BUCKLER TO RETIRE IN JUNE

 CAMBRIDGE, Jan. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Polaroid Corporation (NYSE: PRD) announced today that Dr. Sheldon A. Buckler, vice chairman of its board of directors, will retire on June 30, 1994.
 Buckler, whose career with Polaroid spans nearly thirty years, joined the company in 1964 as manager, Chemical Development. In the years that followed, he was responsible for a variety of research activities, leading to his appointment in 1972 as vice president of Research. In 1984, he was named executive vice president of Polaroid's Industrial Imaging Division. Buckler assumed his current position in 1988.
 Born in Bronx, N.Y., Buckler holds a bachelor of arts degree in chemistry from New York University and a Ph.D. in chemistry from Columbia University. He was a research fellow at the University of Maryland from 1955 to 1956.
 Speaking of his decision to retire, Buckler said, "I look forward to the opportunity to pursue a number of activities that have engaged my interest over the years."
 Buckler is a member of the American Chemical Society and Phi Beta Kappa. He is a director of the Lord Corporation, a member of the board of trustees of Commonwealth Energy System, and a member of the managing board of Massachusetts Eye & Ear Infirmary. He also serves on the advisory board of the American Repertory Theatre.
 Buckler resides in Newton Centre, Mass. Prior to joining Polaroid, he was employed by American Cyanamid Corporation and the American Machine & Foundry Company.
