POLAROID INTRODUCES NEXT-GENERATION COLOR FILM RECORDERS

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., April 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Marking the 10th anniversary of the introduction of the first Polaroid (NYSE: PRD) desktop color film recorder (CFR), Polaroid Corporation announced today the availability of its next-generation Digital Palette "S" Series. The new Polaroid Digital Palette CI-3000S and CI-5000S color film recorders set high industry price/performance standards. They feature up to 100 percent increase in throughout and are priced at approximately 10 percent less than the earlier Polaroid Digital Palette models.
The new "S" Series achieves significantly faster light-on-film time with a new accelerator board from Polaroid built directly into the film recorders. The speed-enhanced "S" Series, combined with improved software, can bring new levels of productivity and efficiency to personal computer users for desktop 35mm slide production.
The "S" color film recorders output typical business word slides, charts and graphs using popular graphics software, such as Harvard Graphics, in as little as 90 seconds at 2,000 lines addressable resolution and in under four minutes at 4,000 lines. The Polaroid film recorders offer an increase in imaging speed over the original Digital Palette models of an average 50 percent, resulting in up to 100 percent increase in throughput.
By enhancing the speed features of the Digital Palette line, at a more economical price, Polaroid maintains its lead in setting high desktop CFR price/performance standards.
The Digital Palette "S" Series is manufactured at an ISO 9000-certified manufacturing site in Newton, Mass. Polaroid offers one of the best warranties in the desktop CFR industry -- two full years. Accessories for the "S" Series include optional software packages, hardware accessories, and specialty camera backs. The film recorders accept 21 different film formats, including Polaroid Presentation Chrome, a specially formulated 35 mm, E-6 slide film for Digital output.
the new Digital Palette "S" color film recorders are part of a family of desktop imaging products from Polaroid. The company's other color imaging peripherals include a digital photo scanner, digital photo printer and LCD projection panel.
Polaroid introduced the first desktop color film recorder, the Palette, in 1983, opening up the world of desktop presentation imaging to the personal computer user. Today, Polaroid is the world's leading manufacturer of desktop color film recorders.
Polaroid Corporation, with sales of more than $2 billion, is the worldwide leader in instant imaging. The company supplies instant photographic cameras and films, conventional films, videotapes and electronic visual communication products to family, business and technical and industrial markets.
