POLAROID ANNOUNCES FIRST QUARTER PRE-RELEASE

 POLAROID ANNOUNCES FIRST QUARTER PRE-RELEASE
 CAMBRIDGE, Mass., April 2 /PRNewswire/ -- In a preliminary

statement issued prior to release of its 1992 first quarter financial results, Polaroid Corporation (NYSE: PRD) indicated today that worldwide sales for the quarter would be somewhat lower than the first quarter of 1991. A decline in international revenues, due mainly to the weak economic climates in Europe and Japan, and flat sales in the United States, when combined with the effect of a stronger U.S. dollar is expected to have a considerable negative impact on operating profit for the quarter.
 I. MacAllister Booth, chairman, president and chief executive officer, said, "Although our sales revenues for the first quarter are less than we anticipated, we are not changing our expectations for the year. We continue to believe that we can deliver a level of profitability that approximates 1991's operating performance."
Polaroid expects to release its first quarter results the week of April 12, 1992.
