POLARIS PREDICTS RECORD SALES, EARNINGS FOR 1992
MINNEAPOLIS, Oct. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Polaris Industries Partners

L.P. (AMEX: SNO) today announced third quarter sales and earnings results and predicted record sales and earnings for the year.
Polaris General Partner Victor Atkins said "Sales for the year are expected to increase by approximately 25 percent to a record $370 million due to increased sales of snowmobiles, all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) and the new personal watercraft.
"Earnings are expected to increase at a lesser rate due to start-up costs related to the new personal watercraft as well as Canadian Dollar and Japanese Yen currency fluctuations."
For the three months ended Sept. 30, 1992, the partnership reported sales of $121,548,000 and net income of $15,850,000 compared with sales of $124,001,000 and net income of $22,304,000 for the same period for 1991. Net income per unit was $1.57 versus $2.33 for the same period last year.
For the first nine months of 1992 Polaris reported sales of $277,242,000 -- an increase of 16 percent over last year's sales of $239,312,000 for the same period. Net income of $24,164,000 compares with net income of $29,822,000 for the prior year-to-date period.
Results for the third quarter reflect the fact that, as in prior years, certain quarter-to-quarter comparisons may not be comparable because of differences in product mix and timing of shipments. Because of increased demand for ATVs, Polaris shifted more higher-margin snowmobile sales historically recorded in the third quarter to the fourth quarter, which resulted in the decrease in sales and earnings for the third quarter.
 Company Declares Cash Distribution
Polaris also plans to declare its next quarterly distribution of $1.25 per unit in December. The distribution will be payable on or about Feb. 15, 1993, to unitholders of record on Dec. 15, 1992.
