POINT DEFIANCE ZOO SAYS FROSTIE THE BEAR TURNS 30
TACOMA, Wash., March 18 /PRNewswire/ -- The following was released

today by Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium:
How does a polar bear celebrate her 30th birthday? With lots of style and plenty of salmon. On Sunday, March 22, our oldest polar bear, Frostie, will turn 30. A special birthday party is planned for Sunday at the Zoo's Polar Bear complex. If you have a 30-year old bear or any old bear, bring it to the Zoo for our "Calling All Bears" contest. Prizes will be awarded to keepers of the biggest bear, smallest bear, oldest bear, best-dressed bear, most-loved bear and bear that most resembles its owner.
Other activities will include heart checks for bears sponsored in part by the American Heart Association from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. At noon all three polar bears will have a special birthday lunch of herring, salmon and plenty of lettuce. Zoo keepers will be on hand to talk about bears in general and polar bears in particular from 12:30 to 1 p.m., and bear story time will take place from 1 to 1:30 p.m. followed by birthday cake for visitors. The "Calling All Bears" contest begins at 2 p.m.
The first 300 children to visit the zoo on March 22 will receive free bear goody bags. The Chicken Coop Cafe will celebrate with bear- shaped cookies and bear kids' meals.
