PNHA, CTP organize walk to create awareness regarding health hazards of tobacco.

RAWALPINDI -- Pakistan National Hearts Association (PNHA) and City Traffic Police, Rawalpindi on Wednesday jointly organized a walk in connection with World Anti-Tobacco Day to create public awareness regarding health hazards of tobacco.

The walk was attended among others by Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Syed Ishtiaq Shah, Deputy Superintendent Police (DSP) Traffic, Headquarters Shahid Yousaf, Inspector Headquarters, Bashir Ahmed Toor, Education Wing, Director Operations, PNHA, Sanaullah Ghoman, General Secretary PNHA, Squadron Leader Ghulam Abbas, Vice President PNHA, Dr. Shehnaz Hameed and a large number of PNHA members and citizens.

Earlier, the CTO addressing the participants said that Tobacco and Shisha smoking is injurious to health as it causes cancer, heart diseases and blood pressure problem. He said, the objective of observing World No Tobacco Day is to reduce tobacco consumption which can lead to deadly diseases like cancer and early death.

World No Tobacco Day primarily focuses on encouraging users to refrain from tobacco consumption and its related products for a period of at least 24 hours so that they could be prepared to stop tobacco consuption which is in their own interest.

The speakers said on No-Tobacco Day the attempt is to draw public and the government attention on the need to take effective measures to prevent tobacco consumption which contaminates the air we live in. So, if your dream is to live in a pollution-free environment, then Anti-Tobacco Day is the right time to express your support to help create a safe and healthy environment for future generations.

Smoking does many irreparable and irreversible disorders in the body and tends to make the body weak from the inside, they said.
