 PNC NAMES HELEN PUDLIN DEPUTY GENERAL COUNSEL
 PITTSBURGH, April 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Helen P. Pudlin has been


elected senior vice president and deputy general counsel of PNC Financial Corp (NYSE: PNC), Thomas H. O'Brien, PNC chairman and chief executive officer, announced today.
 "Helen Pudlin has helped build a first-rate legal department at PNC's Provident National Bank in Philadelphia," O'Brien said. "In her new position, she will manage corporate litigation for PNC and its banks as a key part of our centralized legal staff."
 Pudlin has been general counsel of PNC's Provident National Bank in Philadelphia since 1989, serving on the bank's executive management group and compliance oversight committee in addition to managing the bank's 12-member legal department.
 She had joined Provident National from the law firm of Ballard, Spahr, Andrews & Ingersoll in Philadelphia, where she was a partner and managed commercial litigation and co-chaired the firm's health care group.
 Pudlin is a member of the Board of Ethics of the City of Philadelphia and served on Mayor Edward Rendell's Task Force on Legal Services. She also serves on the boards of the Academy of Natural Sciences, Community Legal Services, the Board of Managers of the University of Pennsylvania Law School Alumni Society and the Public Interest Law Center of Philadelphia. She is a member of the Committee of Seventy and the Forum of Executive Women and is treasurer of the Committee to Elect Women Judges.
 She served for three years on the Board of Governors of the Philadelphia Bar Association and for eight years on its Federal Courts, Business Law and Women's Rights committees. Pudlin is also a member of the American Bar Association and the Federal Bar Association.
 She has co-authored chapters in Review of Antitrust Laws and Procedures and Criminal Antitrust Litigation Manual, both published by the American Bar Association Antitrust Section, and has spoken at professional seminars.
