PML-N board to decide on Nisar ticket: PM.
ISLAMABAD -- Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that the decision on awarding party ticket to Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan for the upcoming general elections would be made by the parliamentary board of the party and not by a single person.
The prime minister's spokesman said this while giving reaction to the statement of former information minister Senator Pervez Rasheed wherein he said that Ch Nisar Ali Khan might not be given party ticket for the upcoming general elections keeping in view his defiance to the party's narrative and openly criticising party policies.
The spokesman said that there was a set mechanism of awarding party tickets to the candidates interested in contesting elections on national and provincial assembly seats and the decision on awarding ticket would be made by party's parliamentary board and not by any single person.
For the past few months former information minister Senator Pervaiz Rasheed and former federal minister Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan have been engaged in trading remarks against each other and lately the former came up with a direct attack on Ch. Nisar terming him a fair-weather friend of Nawaz Sharif.
Pervaiz said that as Ch Nisar Ali Khan did not agree with the narrative of Nawaz Sharif who wanted to restore the sanctity of vote, then he had no right to contest the next elections on the PML-N ticket.
Trying to cover up the things from turning further ugly, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that there was a mechanism of awarding party tickets and the candidates applied for the same to party's parliamentary board where after going though the credentials and services of the candidate, decision on awarding party ticket would be made.
He further said that no one in the party could decide unilaterally on awarding party ticket to any person and all the candidates had to adopt proper procedure for getting party ticket.
