PMDN AND PMA PROJECTS APPROVED IN FIRST AND SECOND WEEKS OF NOVEMBER, 2000.

Domestic investment (PMDN)

In the first and second weeks of November, 2000, BKPM issued licenses for at least 7 investment projects under the PMDN facility. PT Merukh Koko Bather is the largest among the projects with an investment of Rp 751 billion. The company, which plans to operate in coconut oil processing industry, will produce 360 tons of copra meal, 600 tons of crude coconut oil, 12,000 tons of cocoa butter, 30,000 tonsn of cooking oil, 16,000 tons of hardener oil, 15,000 tons of cocoa and 15,000 tons of margarine. The project to be built in West Lombok, will employ 601 Indonesians and 10 expatriates.

PT Tajkra Multi Strategi has the second largest project with an investment of Rp98.2 billion in hotel business. The company plans to build a 5-star hotel with 300 rooms in Surabaya, east Java. It will employ 397 Indonesians and 8 expatriates.

Foreign investment (PMA)

In the same period, BKPM issued license for 13 foreign investment projects. The largest among the projects is owned by PT Wahyu Sembrani, which is a joint venture between PT Nugra Santana and Vico Enterprises international B.V. from the Netherlands. The joint venture company will build an LPG factory to produce 2 million tons of the fuel. The project, to be built in Serang, West Java, is estimated to cost US$ 124 million. It will employ 52 Indonesian workers and 6 expatriates.

The second largest PMA project is owned by PT Putera Karya Persada, which is a joint venture between Sjamsuri Liga and Ong Guang Ju from Singapore. The company will operate in the development and management of condominiums, real estate houses and house store. It plans to build 40 units of condominium towers, 40 house shops and 275 real estate houses. The project to be built in Batam will cost an estimated US$ 4.3 million. It will use 150 Indonesian workers and 4 expatriates.
