OKARA -- Prime Minister Imran Khan who launched the Naya Pakistan housing scheme here on Saturday ignored pressing local issues to the disappointment of PTI leaders and supporters in the district.

More than a dozen link roads are in very poor condition, including 26km long Okara-Dipalpur Road which is also the main route to Pakpattan and Bahawalnagar, 25km long road leading to Sayyedwala bridge over Ravi which connects the district with Jaranwala and Faisalabad.

Similarly, farmers of maize, paddy and potato are in financial crunch due to low support price but the PM did not touch these issues in his speech.

Sources said PTI office-bearers in the district were not consulted before the PM's visit. Involving them was important since the PTI had no elected representatives from Okara district.
