PM backs toilet humour from Holmfirth.
PM David Cameron has shown he is a fan of toilet humour.
He's put his name to a cheeky Bamforth postcard with the slogan: "The only member of parliament who really knows what he's doing!!" The saucy seaside postcard company has recreated the tongue-incheek image after it was discovered when they were cataloguing their 45,000 cards at their HQ.
They sent the card to the PM for him to autograph and were amazed when he returned it.
The postcard features a picture of an MP in a toilet cubicle.
A spokesman for the company said: "Bamforth showed the postcard to one highly respected Member of Parliament and he almost cried with laughter before saying he would have it enlarged and hung in his office."
The postcard, by artist Brian Fitzpatrick, was first published in 1976.
Bamforth was founded by James Bamforth, a portrait photographer who later specialised in lantern slides and then published the first of his saucy seaside postcards in 1910.
The firm, which was based in Holmfirth for decades, established itself as the creator of postcards which were sent around the world.
The company's collection of saucy seaside humour postcards, often featuring buxom blondes and henpecked husbands, became a firm favourite at resorts all over Britain.
The firm was taken over by Ian Wallace, a Yorkshire businessman.
Plans have just been revealed to turn the former Bamforth's premises in Holmfirth into shops and apartments.
