PM Erdoy-an files lawsuit against Prosecutor Euz over tweets.

ySTANBUL (CyHAN)- Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoy-an has filed a legal complaint against Zekeriya Euz, the prosecutor who was working on a recent major corruption case and was later appointed by authorities to a less influential position, on the grounds that Euz used threatening, libelous and insulting language against Erdoy-an in his Twitter posts.

Erdoy-an's lawyers filed complaints against Euz both with the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and the Supreme Board of Judges and Prosecutors (HSYK) on Tuesday. Erdoy-an's lawyer, Ali Euzkaya, states in his petitions that Euz shared tweets on July 16 that include threatening, libelous and insulting elements against Erdoy-an, although Euz didn't use the prime minister's name in his tweets.

Euz was a deputy chief prosecutor for ystanbul when he, along with other prosecutors, launched the massive corruption investigation. Turkish authorities later appointed him to an office in ystanbul's BakyrkE[micro]y district, then sent him to Bolu province in a move many considered an attempt to cover up the graft investigation.

The former ystanbul prosecutor has been a vocal critic of the government for its attempts to put the judiciary under its control, and he has made a number of statements via Twitter criticizing the authorities for their interference with the judiciary. (Cihan/Today's Zaman)
