PM Babanov: Ministry of Energy should fight corruption instead of talking about raising tariffs.

Kyrgyzstan will not increase tariffs in this or next year, said the Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Omurbek Babanov on August 8, 2012 at the session of the Government of Kyrgyzstan. According to the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Energy and Industry should stop spread of information on possible increase of tariffs and energy cut offs. "This is decided by the Government, not the Ministry of Energy. These issues should be negotiated in the framework of development strategy. If somebody does not like this situation, he could write a letter and as a free politician express his opinion," said Babanov. The Prime Minister said that the Ministry should not talk about raising tariffs, but instead should fight corruption, decrease debts and losses that reach 2 billion som.
