PM Abbasi leaves for Russia to attend SCO heads of government meeting.

ISLAMABAD -- Prime Minister (PM) Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has left for Russia to attend Meeting of the Council of the Heads of Government (CHG) of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) at Sochi.

PM will meet heads of important states on the sidelines of the summit .

According to foreign office spokesman Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has left for Russian on two days visit. The SCO heads of government meeting is taking place in Sochi from November 30 to December, 01.

It is the first SCO Heads of Government meeting that Pakistan will attend after assumption of full membership of the organization in June this year. The meeting is mandated to focus on the strategy, prospects and priorities for the SCO's developmental cooperation.

PM Abbasi is attending this meeting on the special invitation of PM of Russian Federation D.A Medvedev.

PM Abasi will deliver special address in the meeting. Joint cooperation against terrorism and promotion of trade feature atop of the agenda of the meeting.

Heads of states, including , China, Russia, India, Kazakhstan will also participate in the meeting. .

The SCO now comprises eight member states, including Pakistan, China, Russia, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. It has four observer states: Iran, Afghanistan, Belarus and Mongolia, and six dialogue partners, including Armenia, Azerbaijan, Cambodia, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Turkey.

Iran, Afghanistan, Belarus and Mongolia will participate in the meeting as observers.
