PLAYBOY ENTERTAINMENT GROUP ANNOUNCES REORGANIZATION

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Sept. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Anthony J. Lynn, president of Playboy Entertainment Group, today announced a reorganization that included the elimination of the position of chief operating officer and president, distribution, held by Richard V. Sowa.
Since taking over as president of the Entertainment Group just over a year ago, Lynn has restructured the group. The most significant changes are the addition of a vice president of marketing, a position that was filled recently by Stephen M. Astor, and a vice president, business development, who is expected to be named within two weeks; the elimination of the chief operating officer, president of distribution position, which Sowa held, and the consolidation of accounting to corporate headquarters. The company said that although these actions will result in a small net savings, the principal goal was to optimize the Entertainment Group's ability to capitalize on its business opportunities domestically and overseas.
"The responsibilities held by Dick are being absorbed and reassigned so that we can operate in a more streamlined fashion," Lynn said. "Dick leaves having built up a strong and solid team."
Christie Hefner, chairman and chief executive officer of Playboy Enterprises Inc., said, "Dick has played an invaluable role in the growth and success of the Entertainment Group and we are saddened to lose him.
"He provided strong direction in the development of the Playboy TV network domestically and the expansion of the Group's television and video activities internationally. We wish him well in his future endeavors."
Sowa, a 21-year Playboy veteran, relocated to the Los Angeles-based Entertainment Group in 1984. He will remain with Playboy through the end of the year to assist and effect with Lynn key phases of the reorganization.
