PLASMA-THERM ANNOUNCES FIRST QUARTER 1992 RESULTS ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., April 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Plasma-Therm, Inc.
(NASDAQ: PTIS) today reported a net profit for the three months ended Feb. 29, 1992, of $136,994 ($.02 per share) on sales of $4,208,542 as compared to a net loss of $297,974 ($.04 per share) on sales of $4,444,924 for the first quarter of 1991.
Income per share was computed based on 8,097,791 outstanding shares in 1992 and 8,081,021 in 1991. Management noted that despite the modest decrease in sales, the company was able to return to profitability. The turnaround was primarily accomplished through cost-cutting measures initiated in the latter part of 1991. The company said it anticipates that sales volume levels for the remainder of the year will be consistent with those of the first quarter. The company added that its performance includes the results of its non-consolidated subsidiary, RF Plasma Products, Inc. (RFPP). That company sustained pre-tax losses of $99,864 and $248,753 for the first quarter of fiscal 1992 and 1991, respectively. The company previously announced its intention to spin off RFPP during 1992. Plasma-Therm, Inc., headquartered in St. Petersburg, is a producer of plasma process equipment and radio frequency component products used primarily by manufacturers of semiconductor devices. /delval/ -0- 4/20/92 /CONTACT: Ronald Deferrari of Plasma-Therm, 813-577-4999/ (PTIS) CO: Plasma-Therm, Inc.; RF Plasma Products, Inc.
