THE world record for the longest pizza was flattened yesterday with a whopping 1,600 metre margherita.
Sixty cooks gathered at the Expo Milano in Italy, working through the night to make the entry into the Guinness World Records.
It will cheese off the Spanish who held the previous record at 1, 415 metres.
The pizza took 18 hours to make using one-and-a-half tons of mozzarella and two tons of tomato sauce and was made, appropriately, during World Tomato Week.
The Milan expo, which runs to October and was first held in 1906, has the theme "Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life" so visitors were served up a slice or three.
