PITTSBURGH PRESS COMPANY LAUNCHES ALLEGHENY BULLETIN TO MEET OBLIGATIONS TO READERS AND ADVERTISERS

PITTSBURGH PRESS COMPANY LAUNCHES ALLEGHENY BULLETIN
TO MEET OBLIGATIONS TO READERS AND ADVERTISERS
PITTSBURGH, May 27 /PRNewswire/ -- The Pittsburgh Press Company today began mailing the first edition of a news and advertising supplement called the Allegheny Bulletin to more than 325,000 households throughout Allegheny County, the company said today.
The first edition, scheduled for mail delivery to subscriber homes on Thursday and Friday, contains 28 pages of news and advertising.
Pittsburgh Press Company Vice President and General Manager Jimmy E. Manis described the Allegheny Bulletin as the first in a series of steps the company will take to meet its obligations to readers and advertisers.
Produced by the editorial staff of The Pittsburgh Press, the publication is being printed by independent contractors and then distributed by the U.S. Post Office.
"Despite concerted attempts to meet the news and advertising needs of the community, by out-of-town daily and weekly newspapers and expanded television and radio newscasts, we believe without Pittsburgh's two daily newspapers these needs are not being met," Manis said. "We have an obligation to meet these needs and the Allegheny Bulletin is the first step to fulfill that obligation."
The first edition of the Allegheny Bulletin contains news, features, sports and financial news, television highlights, and entertainment news and classified ads.
"We regret the disruption created for readers and advertisers by the Teamsters strike against The Pittsburgh Press Company. While we continue to do everything possible to reach an agreement, we will make every effort to meet the news and advertising needs of our readers and the community," Manis said.
