PITTSBURGH BREWING'S NEW J.J. WAINWRIGHT'S BEER SELLS OUT IN RECORD TIME

PITTSBURGH, Feb. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- The inaugural brewing of J.J. Wainwright's Select Lager Beer, Pittsburgh Brewing Company's first-ever specialty beer, sold out after only two weeks on the market, the company announced today.
"We believe J.J. Wainwright's Select is already a very successful product launch. Even though the product is not advertised, the demand has been so great that we've had to move up our schedule for the next brew. We've only promoted J.J.'s informally through tastings at a few local bars, restaurants and cultural events, but the word is definitely out that this is an exceptional beer," said Jack Isherwood, president of Pittsburgh Food & Beverage, the brewery's parent company.
Pittsburgh Brewing reports that the original 48,000 bottles of J.J. Wainwright's Select sold out just two weeks after it was introduced to the marketplace in mid-January. The next brew has already begun, but since the craft-brewing process used in making J.J. Wainwright's is time-conscious and requires that the beer be cold-aged for a period of time after it is brewed, the next J.J.'s brew will not be ready for distribution until the end of this month. At that time, J.J. Wainwright's will be available once again in 12-ounce non-returnable bottles at select restaurants and bars in western Pennsylvania and by special order, using forms available at these same establishments for pickup at local beer distributors.
Isherwood, who is an experienced and a certified brewmaster, and Michael Carota, the brewery's current brewmaster, collaborated to create a distinct recipe for J.J. Wainwright's that includes roasted two-row barley malt to impart an amber-tone color and provide a full, rich flavor that is very smooth. The rich barley malt flavor is balanced with the tangy taste and delicate aroma of a unique blend of imported and domestic hops. Once brewed, the beer is finished by a cold-aging process that imparts a smooth taste.
Pittsburgh Brewing Company, founded in 1861, is the country's eighth largest brewery and considered the largest regional brewery in the nation. The brewery has been producing Iron City(R) Beer for more than 130 years and, in addition to I.C. Light(R), produces I.C. Golden Lager(R), American(R) brand beers, Keene's(R) NA (non-alcoholic) and I.C. Coolers(R).
