PISCATAWAY TEACHER NAMED CTN'S JANUARY GOLDEN APPLE TEACHER
 TRENTON, N.J., Jan. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Carol Freedman Barrood, a 4th

grade teacher at the Randolphville School in Piscataway, N.J., was named CTN's Golden Apple Teacher for the month of January, 1992 by the Cable Television Network of New Jersey.
The Golden Apple Teacher Award is presented monthly by the Cable Television Network to a New Jersey teacher who has been nominated by his or her students for exceptional creativity and dedication in the classroom. The teacher is given statewide recognition by CTN and is featured in a 60 second Public Service Announcement that airs throughout the month on CTN.
Carol Barrood has been teaching at the Randolphville School for the past 26 years. She is a graduate of Curry College in Milton, Mass. and received her masters degree in 1976 from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, N.J.
In their nominating letter, Barrood's 4th graders said that their teacher should win the Golden Apple Award because "she teaches in a creative way and she lets us jog to put off the pressure."
Jim DeBold, CTN's executive director, cited Barrood's promotion of physical fitness, in keeping with the president's aims to get kids into shape, as one of the reasons she was chosen by the network as January's Golden Apple Teacher.
"We were honored that Carol Barrood was chosen as CTN's January Golden Apple Teacher," Randolphville School Principal Fran Bradshaw told CTN. "Out of all the excellent teachers here at our school, Mrs. Barrood is at the top of the list."
The Golden Apple Award is in its third year of honoring New Jersey's educators. Students who wish to nominate their teacher for an award should compose a letter, of 50 words or less on why their teacher deserves an award. Mail all entries to Golden Apple, c/o CTN, 124 West State St., Trenton, N.J. 08608.
Check your local listings for the CTN channel in your area. CTN is a service of the New Jersey Cable Operators.
