PINNACLE MICRO INTRODUCES CASCADE 100 CD-ROM JUKEBOX EQUALLING 65 GIGABYTES OF ON-LINE STORAGE

IRVINE, Calif., Jan. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Pinnacle Micro (NASDAQ: PNCL) today introduced the Cascade CD 100, a new high performance 100 platter CD-ROM jukebox for on-line compact disc storage.
The Cascade CD 100 stores up to 65 Gigabytes (or 100 CDs) of audio, video or data standard compact discs in one CD-ROM library system. The Cascade utilizes a double-speed CD-ROM drive which enables users to quickly access CDs as needed. The Cascade is the perfect solution for storing data-intensive applications, images, archives, multimedia, digital audio/video, or network backup.
Pinnacle's Cascade CD 100 CD-ROM jukebox, retailing for $9,995 and including Pinnacle's Virtual File System (PVFS), offers the lowest cost- per-megabyte. PVFS allows access to the library system through volume or file aliases. Local or networked users simply double-click any CD alias or select an alias from any standard file dialog box and PVFS will automatically locate and retrieve the corresponding CD quickly and efficiently.
The Cascade connects to both Macintosh and DOS-based computers and supports most disc formats such as Red-Book, Orange-Book, Yellow-Book, CD-ROM XA, Photo CD, CD Bridge, ISO 9660 and CD-I. The Cascade is also compatible with Pinnacle's RCD-202 Recordable CD system so users can create their own archives or backups and store them on-line.
Cascade has a disc transfer rate of 376 Kilobytes per second (based on burst transfer rates as made available by CD-ROM manufacturer) and a disc load time of less than six seconds. The unit weighs 39.7 pounds and measures 18.6 x 14.4 x 8.5 inches.
