PILOT ACQUIRES FUEL FILLER TUBE BUSINESS FROM ARVIN

 COLUMBUS, Ind., June 30 /PRNewswire/ -- In a joint announcement, Arvin Industries, Inc. (NYSE: ARV) and Pilot Industries, Inc., of Dexter, Mich., today reported the acquisition by Pilot of Arvin's assets related to the automotive fuel filler tube business located in North Vernon, Ind. The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
 Pilot President Robert A. Davis said, "Pilot's strategy is to be a full service fuel systems supplier to our automotive customers. The North Vernon operation is one of the leading suppliers of fuel filler and oil filler tubes in North America and will be a key part of that strategy."
 Arvin Executive Vice President V. William Hunt and Chief Executive Officer Byron O. Pond said, "This transaction is consistent with our long-term strategic plan to focus on our core exhaust and ride control businesses. We have had a long history in North Vernon and are pleased that our successor, Pilot, is a fine company with a strong commitment to this product line."
 Pilot Industries, Inc., is a supplier of fuel and brake lines to the North American automotive market.
 Arvin Industries, Inc., is an international manufacturing company supplying automotive parts and related products and services in more than 100 countries throughout the world.
