PILLSBURY SELLS HONG KONG SAUCE BUSINESS MINNEAPOLIS, Nov. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Pillsbury announced today the
sale of Hong Kong-based AMOY Industries International Ltd. Corporation to the BSN Group.
This company, which specializes in sauces, was previously jointly owned by Pillsbury, a subsidiary of U.K.-based Grand Metropolitan PLC, and Hang Lung Development Company Limited. Pillsbury officials said the sale would enable the company to focus more sharply on its core brands, which include Green Giant vegetables and Pillsbury baked goods. This acquisition will enable the BSN Group to widen its present range of sauces and condiments including "Lea & Perrins," "HP" and "Maille." It will also enable the Group to develop in the market of Asian-style sauces with a strong brand "Amoy" and to acquire new expertise in the field of Asian-style ready meals. Terms were not disclosed. Pillsbury is a subsidiary of the Food Sector of Grand Metropolitan PLC, one of the largest international companies in the United Kingdom and a world leader in drinks, retailing and food. Sales are in excess of $17 billion.
