PICK OF THE DAY; Shortlisted trio have to follow team orders.

Byline: James Milton

Live football Sky Sports 1, 4pm FOOTBALL is a team game, as footballers are keen to stress, writes James Milton.

We've all seen post-match interviews in which players claim: "Obviously it's nice to score a hat-trick but I couldn't have done it without the lads and I'm just glad we've picked up the three points."

Then they're straight on the phone, instructing their agents to demand a 300 per cent pay rise.

There's no 'I' in Chelsea (although there is one in Liverpool) but Juan Mata, Eden Hazard and Luis Suarez should be forgiven any immodest thoughts at Anfield this afternoon.

The trio are all on the shortlist for the PFA Player of the Year award yet there must be an element of frustration for all three. Mata and Hazard have been creating chances for Fernando Torres to miss all season while Suarez may well have broken Dixie Dean's record if he was being teed up by such talented playmakers.

Mind you, I'm feeling pretty smug after backing Hazard to win the award at 12-1 earlier in the season. Imagine my delight when I heard that he'd made the shortlist and was now no bigger than... 125-1.
