PICK OF THE DAY; Live Cycling: Tour de France (Eurosport, 1.15pm).

With Lance Armstrong now a distant memory and last years champion Floyd Landis banned for drug taking, organisers and fans alike will be hoping for a controversy-free event.

This third stage is the longest the riders will face in the competition a 236.5km journey from Waregem in Belgium to Compiegne in France.

German rider Matthias Kessler claimed victory at this stage last year, but suspension by his team Astana has cast doubts over whether he ll be able to participate.

Alexandre Vinokourov and Alejandro Valverde are expected to be among the challengers, though.
