PIC 'N' SAVE RELEASES MARCH SALES
PIC 'N' SAVE RELEASES MARCH SALES DOMINGUEZ, Calif., April 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Pic 'N' Save Corp.
(NASDAQ: PICN) announced today that its sales for the five weeks ended April 5, 1992, were $44,416,000, down 2.1 percent from $45,375,000 in the prior year. Sales in comparable stores for the five weeks of March were down 2.8 percent.
"The sales comparisons for March were, in large part, an aberration caused by the calendar shift in Easter business," commented Len Williams, president and chief executive officer. "Last year's March sales figures included the Easter holiday selling season, while this year Easter will fall in the month of April. Therefore, it is more meaningful to look at March and April together, rather than as individual months." The company operates a chain of 193 retail stores in 12 states. These stores, which do business as Pic 'N' Save and Mac Frugal's Bargains - Close-outs, feature a variety of first-quality general merchandise obtained through manufacturer close-outs, overruns, discontinued lines and packaging changes. An ever-changing assortment of merchandise is typically sold at 40 percent to 70 percent off regular retail prices. -0- 4/9/92 /CONTACT: Eileen Hupp, assistant VP-marketing of Pic 'N' Save, 310-761-4214/ (PICN) CO: Pic 'N' Save Corp.
