PHOTOCOMM TO DISTRIBUTE KYOCERA SOLAR ELECTRIC MODULES IN LATIN AMERICA
SAN DIEGO, Jan. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Kyocera America Inc. has announced that beginning Jan. 15, 1992, Photocomm Inc. (NASDAQ: PCOM), in cooperation with Westinghouse Solar Energy Operations, will be distributing Kyocera solar electric modules in South America, Central America and the Caribbean Area. Photocomm has been distributing Kyocera modules in the United States and Canada since February 1991.
With its recent plant expansion, Kyocera will be the world's second largest manufacturer of solar electric power modules in 1992. Photocomm, founded in 1981, is headquartered in Scottsdale, Ariz., and is the largest solar electric systems marketing and distribution company in the United States. Westinghouse, a minority shareholder in Photocomm, has field sales offices in seven Latin American countries.
"Photocomm's technical staff, new applications development and complete line of high quality balance of system equipment, combined with the Westinghouse Latin America field sales offices and personnel, will enable Photocomm to meet the increasing technical and service requirements of Kyocera customers in Latin America," said Al Panton, Kyocera Solar sales manager.
Kyocera polycrystalline modules have cell efficiencies over 14 percent and carry a full 12-year replacement warranty -- the longest and best warranty in the industry. Photocomm's 1991 "Solar Electric Systems Design Guide and Catalog," which features the complete line of Kyocera modules, is currently available in English and will be published in Spanish in mid-1992.
