PHONE HOME...ON US! HOLIDAY INN HOTELS OFFER MATURE TRAVELERS l5 MINUTES WORTH OF FREE TELEPHONE CALLS ANYWHERE IN THE U.S.

ATLANTA, Sept. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Holiday Inn hotels in North America are offering mature guests an extra reason to stay this fall.
Beginning Sept. 9 and running through Jan. l6, l994, guests who are 50 years or older and present a promotional coupon upon check-in at a participating hotel, will receive a telephone calling card with a value of l5 minutes worth of free long distance phone calls anywhere in the continental U.S.
The guest may use the card at the hotel or take it with him and use it in the future at his convenience.
"The offer has particularly good timing and value," noted Ray Lewis, executive vice president of Sales and Marketing, Holiday Inn Worldwide. "It allows our guests to use the telephone calling cards immediately or save them for the upcoming holiday season when long-distance phoning is at a peak.
"It is also a nice way for us to say thank you to a group of people who have truly been life-long customers," added Lewis. "The mature travelers are especially important to Holiday Inn as these are the people who have supported us for more than 40 years."
In addition, mature guests will enjoy a 20 percent savings on non- discounted room rates and a l0 percent savings on meals in the hotel restaurant.
There are more than 700 Holiday Inn hotels in the U.S. participating in this program. One telephone calling card will be issued for each stay per guest room.
Travelers who are 50 years and older are invited to call Holiday Inn at l-800-653-9473 to receive a promotional coupon and list of participating hotels.
The long distance calling cards or "debit cards" are being supplied by ComTel Corporation of Lyndhurst, N.J. Telephone debit cards are the pre-paid cousins of traditional calling cards. After dialing an 800 number, callers punch in a special code that allows them to make long distance phone calls and have the cost of each call "debited," or charged against an existing account balance.
Guest room reservations for Holiday Inn hotels may be made by calling l-800-HOLIDAY or by consulting a travel agent. All reservations are commissionable to certified travel agents.
Holiday Inn Worldwide, which is owned by Bass PLC of the U.K., is the world's largest single hotel brand, with 1,750 hotels and more than 337,000 guest rooms in more than 50 countries around the world.
